Things To Do in Northern Colorado

These pictures are specifically from Horsetooth Reservoir, the body of water that spans approximately 7 miles. It has homes to rent or buy— a beautiful residential area if you want to be close to the city and still feel like you’re in the mountains. This is a great spot.

Hundreds of miles of trails link together, making it easy to get lost in the day outside. In the wintertime, when there’s snow, we do see people cross-country skiing in the foothill areas just west of the reservoir.

Summer events – You can swim, fish, row, kayak, and even see cliff divers/jumpers as shown in the photos. There are signs that say you’re not supposed to do it, but people do. There are cove sections to hang out in, which is typically where you will see some of these jumpers enjoying a summer day with a cool splash to escape whatever temperature is outside.

The reservoir is cool all year round, so even if we hit 100 degrees, river or reservoir water is the place to be. It cools your body and feels 10-20 degrees cooler. Also, you’ll see a lot of dogs here.

Paddle boarding is also a thing around here. This is me with my doggie McGhee

Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or just a break from the summer heat, Horsetooth Reservoir offers something for everyone. From scenic trails to refreshing waters, it's a place where nature and community come together. So, whether you're hiking, paddling, or just soaking up the view, Northern Colorado’s outdoor playground is waiting for you.
